ceremony music
Since Dave will be a bit preoccupied on Septemeber 17th, all the ceremony music will be performed by a string quartet made up of friends of his sordid past. Joe Brent, a Red Sox crazed fiddle/mandolin/banjo Broadway virtuoso from the Big Apple, will pair with Bethany Mennemeyer, a red headed, ultra-modern DMA violinist at the University of Michigan on violin. Viola duties will be handled by Sharon Chung, a masters graduate of Northwestern University (with questionable taste, as she's dating the best man); and the quartet will be anchored by the esteemed Donna Miller, a recent transplant to Chicago, on cello. Also of note is Rosanna McFadden, who in addition to masterfully designing the altar, will be leading hymns.
Not to be outdone at his own wedding, all music at the ceremony has been chosen and arranged by the groom. Rest assured, there will be no Here Comes the Bride or Canon in D - but you'll have to come early to hear what was picked (including a killer rendition of Moondance). Be sure to be at the White Chapel a half hour before the wedding (6:00 PM) to hear the full prelude!
reception music
Directly after the ceremony, the reception line will form on the patio (good weather permitting) in front of the union building. The wedding party will be serenaded by New Orleans style street musicians, including saxophonist Randy Salman, Dave's improvisation teacher at DePauw. Meanwhile, native Hautian John Spicknall, Beth's former jazz piano teacher, will entertain the wedding party throughout dinner upstairs in the dining hall. He later will lead a small jazz combo - in which other talented friends of Beth and Dave may make cameos - including GLASSMEN Alum Keith Hoyt - for your listening pleasure (or dancing, should you dare) for the remainder of the evening.
